Sunflowers, Pumpkins & Memory

Well, last I posted, I was commenting on how summer flew in and winter forgotten. Now here it is autumn and where did summer go?! Our art group met at the pumpkin patch a few weeks ago--making this a fond annual outing. We always enjoy the colorful pumpkins, families exploring the fields, and gorgeous fall weather. Several art teachers have discussed the point that painting creates indelible memories. It is so true. When painting on location there is an intensity of study and observation and decision-making and design-formulation and editing and consideration of color temperatures and values, lines, proportions, forms, perspective--all the while the air is full of nuanced weather and fragrance and the light is shifting and shadows are morphing...NO WONDER the moment is etched permanently into our minds!
